Introduction

Hit Counter

My name is George Walker and I am a Catholic Christian.  I am a husband and father of three children.  I am also an American.  I am not embarrassed to admit that I am worried about the course our country is headed.  There are a number of serious issues that we must face and resolve.   My greatest fear is if those issues are left to run their course as they stand today, it will be the end of our country as we know it.

The issues I am talking about are the following:

•           Outsourcing of American Jobs

•           Border Security & Illegal immigration

•           The war in Iraq, Afghanistan & The Middle East Dilemma

•           The National Debt & Trade Deficit

•           China

At the time I am writing this book however, I have a glimmer of hope.  With our mid-term elections completed, it is obvious that Americans have awakened to the fact we have a problem.   As a nation of Americans, we voted for change.  But we have a long way to go.

As we are about to begin the year of 2007, now that we are in the mood, this is also the time for swift and decisive action to take our country back while we still have a country.   In the process, let’s help the common men, women, and children of other nations take their countries back too if they choose to do so.

All these problems combined are overwhelming.  It may seem like our future is hopeless and impossible.  However, I am a Catholic Christian.   As human beings we may feel situations are hopeless and impossible.  But with God in our lives anything is possible.

At this time in our world it is critical that every man, woman, and child return to their churches, temples, synagogues, mosques, and all their places of worship.   Let us all join together in prayer for peace that this world will survive the violence that is taking place today and the people of all nations who are at risk because of war get help.

It is very obvious that we are in desperate need of guidance and leadership.   The sad part is many of us know what the solutions are.   Our leaders today just are unwilling or unable to make the right decisions that are in the best interests of the majority of the American people as for the people of our world.

If our leaders in this country and across the globe are unwilling or unable to make the right decisions for the people, the common men, women, and children across this nation and of this world must decide the direction and standards for ourselves and put them into law.   Then we should tell our leaders what our expectations are.  Also, let them know clearly what the consequences are if they don’t meet our expectations.

To begin, let us all join together in prayer.  I first pray for America and the world that all of us have an open mind and seek first to understand the problems as I see them.   I will seek to understand opposing views also.

I also pray that the world community understand that we have to talk to each other and participate in the process.  We must come up with the best solutions to solve these problems, and have the will to put these solutions into practice.   We have a lot of hard work ahead.  We have to rediscover the American “Can Do” spirit and spread that enthusiasm across the world.   I can understand the fear of war and violence.  But war and violence will only lead to more war and more violence.

Let us pray for our leaders that they are given the wisdom to successfully find a long term peaceful solution to the crises we face throughout the world, and make the right decisions for all the problems that face this country and this world.

Let us pray for all of us to understand the dynamics of what is happening in our world today, and in our way take action to make this world a better place.

It all starts with God.  However, God gives us free will.  With God’s help, we have the ability to fix all that is broken.  Finally, we need to pray to find the will and the strength within all of us to make all this happen.

Americans under George Washington fought the Revolutionary War to bring the United States of America into being.  When Adolph Hitler and the Empire of Japan threatened to capture the world, nations from around the globe worked together to defeat them.  As Dwight D. Eisenhower said of D-Day, Nazi Germany experienced “The Fury of an aroused Democracy.”   (Steven Ambrose ‘D-Day').

In the 21st Century we are facing a war on three fronts.   There is so much fear, anger and hatred against the United States which continues to build at an alarming rate.  The Middle East and Central America are two of these regions.  As Americans, we have to learn and accept responsibility that this is largely the result of actions taken by American business and political leaders over the past 54 years.    As the citizens of the United States and citizens of the world we can find a way to get past the fear, anger and hatred, and find solutions there.

Arrogance, fear, anger, and hatred start and wage wars.  But when it is all said and done, war doesn’t do any good.  Countless people die, incredible amounts of resources are spent, and nations are destroyed.  When it is over, the dead have to be buried, the mess has to be cleaned up, and the resources have to be found to rebuild the regions again.   I challenge all of the people across the world to stop fighting and start talking.

Secondly, there is the war in Iraq and terrorism, but there is a much bigger war we are facing.  It is a war of greed, short sightedness and wholesale stupidity.    In their all encompassing haste to reach short term profitability, many American companies are collectively destroying the economic, customer and tax base of the United States.

Thirdly, the People’s Republic of China is the most potential and serious threat to the future survival of the United States of America.  The trillions of dollars of capital sent to China has built it into an industrial powerhouse.  Those dollars have also fueled one of the most intensive military industrial complex buildups in history.  We have to be paying attention to these events, and do something about it or we are in serious trouble.

The core problem that has plagued humanity since the beginning of time is the lack of importance placed on the common man, woman, and child.   There have been so many conflicts over time based on religion, race and nationality.  People controlling the wealth and power over the years have used this to distract humanity from this core problem.

The core solution is jobs should and can sustain families.   The common people must insist that our business and political leaders create family sustaining jobs.   When these jobs provide a wage for not only food, clothing, and a home but also health care, an education, and extra income to buy the “stuff” businesses sell to run economies everywhere, this world will be a lot different and a lot better.

If you look at history, most wars were started because a charismatic leader convinced the masses of the poor and disenfranchised that it was the right thing to do.  If there were no poor or disenfranchised, there would be less chance of a war starting.

Sometimes, one man or woman with a vision can change the world.   At the very least, we have to start somewhere.  In the chapters ahead, I will discuss in greater detail the problem spots we face in the world and more specific solutions.   Here and there I will do it in a humorous way.  Here’s to making the world a much better place.  Let’s get to work.

I have one last thought for all of you.  What type of world do we want to leave for our children?  Do we want a world of peace and prosperity?  Or do we want a world of chaos, poverty, and despair?   The choice is up to you.
