Michigan Craft Shows for January and February - All I can tell you about January and February is that it is pretty slow in Michigan for craft shows, fairs, festivals or any type of event.   If you are looking additional for craft shows, festivals, and events, I would look to the southern states.  The twin brother I have never met (Dan Lewis) publishes Where the Shows Are.   It covers Florida and a number of states along the eastern seaboard. 

    If you hold  craft shows in January or February and want to add it to my listing, enter your information Submit your Event to the Michigan Crafter Magazine.   Vendors are always looking for craft shows in the winter months especially ones they can make money at. 

    The winter months can also be a good time to brainstorm new ideas.  There have been an item you had thought about during the summer or fall, but did not have the time to put it into production.  You may have been at some shows and the sales haven't been good lately.  It may be time to research new places to sell your work.

    It is also a good time to talk about what shows did well and what shows didn't.  At this time I would appreciate some e-mails from you so I can communicate this information with everybody else.   If there are shows out there you would recommend to others that's great.   If there are shows out there that are downright ugly, it's just as important to communicate that information as the five star shows.

    January and February may also be the time to explore additional areas to market your work.  I have been told E-bay is been lucrative for some vendors.  Also, think about what you could do with your own website if you don't have one, or what you can do better if you do have a website up and running. 

    A well designed website that is setup to reach the top of the search engines will be able to send customers you never have had access to before.   Among the ideas you could have on your site are the work you are selling, a brief biography of how you came to sell your work, a show schedule, testimonials, and many other possibilities.  Just like your crafts or art is a reflection of the crafter or artist, your website should be a personal statement of who you are and what you do.
