Questions to ask before Hiring a Website Designer

Question #1:    In designing a website you first must ask yourself this question.  What am I trying to accomplish by having a website up and running?   In your overall business plan of making sales and giving exposure to your business, how will a website fit in to all of this?

Question #2:    In meeting with a prospective website designer, are they asking you questions about your business?  Or are they telling you how to set up your site?

Question #3:    Does your prospective web site designer submit your site to search engines so the process can get started for you to be ranked?  How often do they submit your site?  How much is the cost for this?

Question #4:    Does your prospective web site designer give you reports on where your website is ranked across the various search engines? 

Question #5:    Does your web site designer maintain your website after he or she designs it, or are you on your own?
